When Watching Rome...

My new favorite television show is HBO's Rome. Really, I'm just a fan of all things Rome and this series is no exception. This thing was budgeted at something like $75 million plus, has been in various stages of production...
This Looks Suspiciously Like Democracy II

Political scientists, like myself and my esteemed colleague Dr. Schaff, tend to chuckle sometimes when we read that the Sunnis oppose the constitution while the Kurds faver it. Groups as large as the Sunni and Kurdish populations of Iraq are...
Blogosphere and Loathing

KekMy SDP colleague and former student, Quentin Riggins, appears to have irritated my friend at CCK, Chad Shuldt. Though I am not sure that Chad's intemperate language strengthens his case, he has every right to deploy profanity when he sees...
Bad Sports Hair

You just generally expect athletes to sport horrible hair. In fact, I really don't even think about it. But if anyone can explain to me just what in the hell Tiger Woods is doing, please do....

Beck confronts the lying left

Yesterday?s Randell Beck column was regarding letters that were critical of Representative Stephanie Herseth:Most of the recent letters in question, purporting to be written by several different people, attacked U.S. Rep. Stephanie Herseth, D-S.D., as a diabolical shill for the...
One of Their Own Cats

Quentin Riggins runs us through some examples of letters to the Sioux Falls Argus Leader condemning Rep. Stephanie Herseth, and the resulting cries from South Dakota Democrats that these letters were written by "someone" in the Republican Party. Because we...
Recipe for Victory in Iraq (or anywhere else for that matter)

How to Win a War in Two Easy Steps

Emperor Misha has outdone himself here, with a semi-long, well-reasoned, and practically realistic commentary on resolving the Iraq front of the Jihadistani Islamofascist Terror War.

By way of background on what my perspective is coming from, the Chief teaches H.S. sciences, but is ALSO certified for Government, and History, and is a serious history buff - with a strong interest in (and some academic study of) military history.

Coming from that knowledge base, I have to say that Misha's analysis and the historical perspectives cited are right on the mark. This post has a ****½ rating from the Chief out of *****, at least.

Take a look - it's well worth the read!
