Blogosphere and Loathing

KekMy SDP colleague and former student, Quentin Riggins, appears to have irritated my friend at CCK, Chad Shuldt. Though I am not sure that Chad's intemperate language strengthens his case, he has every right to deploy profanity when he sees...
First Lady a sexist

Pat Buchanan lends support to what I said previously: Asked on NBC's Today show if criticism of the Harriet Miers nomination might be rooted in sexism, first lady Laura Bush seemed to welcome the question. I think that's possible, she...

Enter Stage Right (Wing)

The moonbats have been flapping their leathery wings all day long about the "staged" teleconference with US soldiers in Tikrit. Y'know, because "staged" events -- phony red meat passion plays for the howling right-wing dogs -- are generally pulled together...
Mulish and Garrulous

I've been using Google Talk for voice chat with my cousin in Connecticut, Jesse in Taiwan, and another of my friends in South Dakota. The concept is simple: make a "phone call" over your computer. Quick, simple, and completely free....
One of Their Own Cats

Quentin Riggins runs us through some examples of letters to the Sioux Falls Argus Leader condemning Rep. Stephanie Herseth, and the resulting cries from South Dakota Democrats that these letters were written by "someone" in the Republican Party. Because we...
My First Shoot Out

I'm sitting here watching the Avs-Blackhawks game, and the OT finished 2-2. I finally get to see my first hockey shoot out of the season. Hopefully Peter Budaj is good enough to keep one or two of them out. Three...
GOP Leader Waking Up?

Frist to take on border bill first

Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist said yesterday that the Senate will tackle border security and interior immigration enforcement before turning to the broader question of immigration reforms and a guest-worker program. "It is a separate issue, but it's one that people understand," the Tennessee Republican said of border security. "It's an immediate issue, it needs to be addressed more aggressively, we need to do that."

This is only encouraging. While Frist doesn't sound nearly as clear on the border issue as Cong. Tom Tancredo (R-CO) does, he's apparently moving in a better direction - which is NOT what the administration really wants to see.
