Abe's Short Takes

Two of Abe's quick points: 1) The coverage of Hurricane Ophelia hit an old sore spot with me. What's the point of having the TV reporter out in the hurricane? I know TV wants visuals above all else, but this...
Voter Fraud

From a Wall Street Journal editorial on 9/22/2005 about the new Carter/Baker voting reform commission's suggested reforms: The voter-ID recommendations are particularly noteworthy, however, because for decades the left has maintained that voter fraud isn't a problem. In fact, it's...
Daschle Mentioned

Todays Hotline:The FEC charged the Club for Growth for violating campaign-finance laws, specifically for raising and spending at least $4M more than the soft-money limits for 527s allow (Dinan, Washington Times, 9/10). From the suit: The Club itself has repeatedly...
College Football Saturday

It's a beautiful day outside, and did manage to get out for a little bit, but am still mostly housebound thanks to my nagging stitches. So I'm watching college football. Big surprise, eh? This morning while I was watching ESPN's...
NASA EVIDENCE of GLOBAL WARMING

Mars getting warmer, orbiter data suggests

Well, here's more evidence for global warming, only this time it is on Mars.

Let's see now, Mars is getting warmer. Earth is getting warmer.

What do they have in common? Hmmmm. Oh, yeah, both are under the influence of the sun.

What DON'T they have in common? Don't look now, but Mars seems to be missing out on human industrial pollution, unless the NASA rovers are somehow putting out a LOT of CO2. Oh, right - they run on solar power.

The inevitable and logical conclusion is that any global warming effect, since it is occurring on two planets in the same solar system , under the influence of the same somewhat variable star, are being warmed together by that star - our sun, Sol, or whatever you want to call it.

So much for Kyoto, etc.

The results of surrender

For those who want us to surrender to the terrorists in Iraq, take a look at what happened when Israel surrendered the Gaza strip: Israel has information al-Qaida-linked members likely infiltrated the Gaza Strip while its border with Egypt was...

Party of Obstructionists

Up until today I was guessing, along with many others, that a substantial number of Democrats would vote to confirm John Roberts. This would have made the Democrats look less obstructionist and more reasonable. That, I supposed, would have positioned...
