Blogosphere Rules!

We have been discussing the umpire analogy used by John Roberts on Monday, and the take on the analogy by the folks at Volokh. Imagine everyone's surprise when Sen. John Cornyn referenced the Volokh blog (albeit without attribution) in his...
Democrat Mayor bankrupted New Orleans

From the Times-Picayune: BATON ROUGE - Mayor Ray Nagin pledged Monday that he and other citizens of New Orleans rather than state and national officials would be the lead planners in rebuilding the Crescent City, even as the town copes...
Crescent Memorial Design to Go

Architect offers to alter Flight 93 memorial to appease critics

The Flight 93 memorial design as a crescent (like the symbol of Islam, in memorial to victims of Islamofascism) was earlier noted by the Chief here. Agreeing with thos who declared that this design would be in the same spirit as planting flowers in a swastika pattern as a memorial at Auschwitz, the Chief strongly disliked this design.

It took approx. two and a half days for the National Park Service and the architects to recognize that they were spitting into the wind on this one, and announce that the design would be changed.

The architect of the memorial to a plane downed in western Pennsylvania on Sept. 11, 2001, said Wednesday he would work to satisfy critics who complained that it honors terrorists with its crescent-shaped design.

At least they weren't as oblivious to the concerns about the design as those pushing the WTC memorial have been. Progress of a sort.

Jumpers vs. Drowners

Methinks that Instapundit is right on the money: THE PRESS WANTS TO SHOW BODIES from Katrina. It didn't want to show bodies, or jumpers, on 9/11, for fear that doing so would inflame the public. I can only conclude that...

Umpires and Judges.

This by Jack Shafer writing in Slate:In today's hearings, Sen. Joseph Biden, D-Del., and Sen. Herb Kohl, D-Wis., rejected the strikes and balls analogy as specious. But I think Roberts' analogy holds up remarkably well, so well that he could...
What's The Diff?

Powerline and then Volokh correctly ascertain that what the Democrats on the Senate Judiciary Committee want is a justice who will exert his will and promote (a left-wing) version of justice. What Judge Roberts want is a judiciary that applies...
Jeremy Funked up again

Jeremy Funk, one of the Hildebrand Boy bloggers, has a habit of bashing John Thune through false connections with other persons. First he participated in the ridiculous accusation that there was some kind of connection between Jeff Gannon and John...
