More On Umpires
I wish to add to the discussion of the umpire/judge analogy. Of course the analogy is imperfect, but it is effective as far as it goes. I would simply add this. If there was an umpire who said, Some are...
From Memory to History
BeldarBlog: As 9/11 Becomes History Instead of Memory. Read the whole exposition. Here's an excerpt: What I know of Pearl Harbor Day and of World War II is mostly from books. 12/7/41 is all history, no memory, for me and...

Democrat Mayor bankrupted New Orleans
From the Times-Picayune: BATON ROUGE - Mayor Ray Nagin pledged Monday that he and other citizens of New Orleans rather than state and national officials would be the lead planners in rebuilding the Crescent City, even as the town copes...
Blogosphere Rules!
We have been discussing the umpire analogy used by John Roberts on Monday, and the take on the analogy by the folks at Volokh. Imagine everyone's surprise when Sen. John Cornyn referenced the Volokh blog (albeit without attribution) in his...
Gorgeous George vs. Hitch
Since I have absolutely nothing better to do (saddlebronc riding, jumping jacks are out of the question) on Saturday, I'm planning on watching C-SPAN's broadcast of the Hitchens-Galloway "debate." If you want a text-only run-down before catching Hitch and Galloway...

NASA to Unveil Plans to Send 4 Astronauts to Moon in 2018
NASA briefed senior White House officials Wednesday on its plan to spend $100 billion and the next 12 years building the spacecraft and rockets it needs to put humans back on the Moon by 2018. The U.S. space agency now expects to roll out its lunar exploration plan to key Congressional committees on Friday and to the broader public through a news conference on Monday.
Phew! It's about time. The only concern the Chief has about this is why take so long to get back there, when we did it for the first time in less than a decade - well, I guess it is NASA, after all.
