The self-loathing of America
From Rush Limbaugh: You see, most of the hate-America crowd first is a bunch of socialist, and they look at socialism as well intentioned. Socialism is an equal opportunity promise. It's an equal opportunity opportunity if you will. Capitalism, of...
Oliphant's slander
Tom Oliphant writes in the Boston Globe:Roberts will have no trouble passing the litmus test. But his passing of it will mask the long record of his fealty to the true purpose of conservatism in civil rights for well over...
Operation: Write A Check
I'm going to write a personal check for $55 tomorrow, the amount I've received via PayPal for the Sheriff's Relief Fund. I'm also thinking about just matching whatever all of you have donated for my own personal contribution. That should...
Thoughts on John Roberts Hearings
I have had only slight opportunity to watch these hearings. While the statements and questions of the Judiciary Committee members are largely predictable, and in that sense less than interesting, there are some nuggets that reveal certain mindsets. Certainly the...
When the Levee Breaks
Ryne McClaren has a nice piece on the pork that Federal dollars purchased in Louisiana, when they could have been spent, say, strengthening levees. I especially liked this one:Remember when then-Homeland Security Secretary Tom Ridge recommended that people stockpile some...

Phew! It's about time. The only concern the Chief has about this is why take so long to get back there, when we did it for the first time in less than a decade - well, I guess it is NASA, after all.
Media scandal?
From Rush Limbaugh: All right, people say, Rush, what do you mean media scandal? Let me put scandal in quotes. The simplest way, I think, to clue you in as to my thinking is to give you the -- well,...
Jumpers vs. Drowners
Methinks that Instapundit is right on the money: THE PRESS WANTS TO SHOW BODIES from Katrina. It didn't want to show bodies, or jumpers, on 9/11, for fear that doing so would inflame the public. I can only conclude that...
