The News Gets Worse

Gulf Coast Disaster Beyond Words

Chief nearly rendered speechless

The disaster resulting from Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans & environs, and coastal Mississippi and Alabama is of such a scope that descriptive terminology somehow falls flat in the face of the reality.

As more news comes out, the situation only worsens, at least thus far. Perhaps the description "...of Biblical proportions." is appropriate for once.

Our prayers go out to those affected, and we wish them as speedy a resolution to thier problems as may be possible.

The OTHER aspect of this that renders one speechless - but for a different reason are the attempts of certain libDonks to blame the problem on Bush and other conservatives. What a total crock. The Chief would like to slap 'em up side the head, except for the fact that s--t splatters. RFK Jr., and the others of their ilk on both sides of the Atlantic once and for all need to get a #12 cork installed in their pie holes.

Time To Deal

When morons are starting to shoot at emergency helicopters, it's time to re-think some current policies. And it sounds like Louisiana governor Kathleen Blanco has been doing just that. A DETACHMENT of 300 Arkansas National Guard troops have landed in...
Katrina and the issue of blame

From Burt Prelutsky: The people I could not begin to fathom were those like Robert Kennedy Jr., the self-proclaimed energy conservationist who flies hither and thither in private jets, who blamed President Bush for the disaster. If only he had...
On The Other Hand

Instead of mindlessly attacking Bush, maybe left-wing bloggers could direct readers to sites where they can contribute to help care for the suffering and aid in reconstruction. The libertarian Instapundit does so here. I encourage SDP readers to follow this...
Pork Fails to Stop Floodwater; Government Still Not Big Enough

Maybe this is something that the Louisiana voters can ask their delegation about: Army's engineers spent millions on Louisiana projects labeled as pork. Before Hurricane Katrina breached a levee on the New Orleans Industrial Canal, the Army Corps of Engineers...
New Volcano in the Offing?

Mystery Bulge in Oregon Still Growing

A remote Oregon site is showing evidence of...something happening that may well result in some (sort of) new volcanic activity.

A recent survey of a bulge that covers about 100 square miles near the South Sister indicates the area is still growing, suggesting it could be another volcano in the making or a major shift of molten rock under the center of the Cascade Range.

This would certainly be a lot more interesting in the news cycle than Cindy Sheehan, or the latest Aruba update.

You Know, For Kids!

Charles notes that the San Francisco chapter of the "9/11 Truth Moonbats Alliance" held an "artwork" contest, with a special category for kids. And while the little tyke who won certainly created some nifty spew (talk about rotten parenting), nothing...
Solution: Self-government

From Joseph Farah (read the wole thing): The Founding Fathers knew that even the best designed government wouldn't work if the people were not righteous, moral and God-fearing ? if they didn't love liberty and cherish it. To practice self-government...
