Not Out of the Woods Yet

New Orleans isn't out of the woods yet, but things are looking slightly better (or less disastrous), as Katrina is now "only" a Category 4 storm. (You know things are rough when you're optimistically saying that a hurricane is now...

An apology and explanation

If you go here, you'll see that I am blind as a bat. I keep reading posts at CCK and attributing them to Chad when in fact they are Seth. My bad. I should have been able to tell they...

I continue to argue that it is beneath the dignity of a political party to make someone's eating habits a political issue. I disassociate myself from any attack on Elesha Peterson Carr based on the fact that she is a...
SD GOP Proposal to Restrict Convention Participation

By-laws changed proposed for upcoming meeting

THe Chief has recently learned of some proposed by-laws changes for the SD GOP that would have the immediate effect of greatly reducing the possible participation in the state conventions.

This would be a HUGE bad move, unless what is desired is to freeze out grass-roots participation, and keep things neatly bundled up to be run by a would-be elite group. NOT the way to go!

If this were implemented, the Chief would seriously think about affiliating with the Whigs instead of the GOP, to get away from the RINOs once and for all!

H/T to Dakota War College for this one - he has a really great post that spells out the gory details at greater length, so if this catches your attention, go check it out....nothing to disagree with there as far as the Chief is concerned.

Disclosure Notice: The Chief is currently a precinct committeeman, and just completed two terms as GOP County Chair, and has been involved in GOP activity since Youth for Goldwater days. (Sheesh - thinking about THAT could start to make a guy feel a bit of the mileage!)

Katrina

Holy shit. Those are really the only two words that I can think of that can accurately describe what they're predicting for New Orleans. It's a category 5 hurricane. Hundreds of thousands are fleeing. "Millions" may be homeless. Parts...
The Madness of Hurricane Katrina

I can't even begin to touch the quality of blogging that others are providing, so I'm trusting that you're reading it. As I look over the Times-Picayune site, I can't seem to quite get my head around the devastation that's...
Losing Your Head In Crawford, TX

Mother Cindy says that she's losing "compassion" for other mothers who have lost sons and daughters in the war in Iraq, claiming that they've been "brainwashed" and accusing them of supporting "murder and mayhem." When will the left wing call...
