Let's Give
Time for a Katrina blogburst. Instapundit wants a post recommending relief efforts to donate to, and here are the two I like: The American Red Cross. Soldiers' Angels, which has set up a special fund for servicepeople in the disaster...
ZAP! You're Dead!
DARPA's 'Star Wars'-style Laser Cannon
Laser cannon. The words evoke immediate visions of the space war scenes in Star Wars. As it turns out the US is starting to build this new way to do it to them before they get a chance to do it to us. The Darpa program is called the High Energy Liquid Laser Area Defense System (HELLADS).

Ellsworth Saved
Ellsworth AFB, located just outside of Rapid City, SD, received 8 of 9 votes yesterday by the BRAC committee to be kept open. Here's an AP story on yesterday's happenings. Pending approval by Congress and the President, it looks like...
Not Out of the Woods Yet
New Orleans isn't out of the woods yet, but things are looking slightly better (or less disastrous), as Katrina is now "only" a Category 4 storm. (You know things are rough when you're optimistically saying that a hurricane is now...

The left sinks to new depths. The reaction of the left on the hurricane on the Gulf coast is to bash George Bush. Chad Schuldt does it twice, here and here. The first link compares Bush to Nero, which reveals...
Looking Good
SD War College has a new design. Check it out....
On The Other Hand
Instead of mindlessly attacking Bush, maybe left-wing bloggers could direct readers to sites where they can contribute to help care for the suffering and aid in reconstruction. The libertarian Instapundit does so here. I encourage SDP readers to follow this...
Levee Breaks
New Orleans has entered one of those "worst case" scenarios: The City of New Orleans Is Devastated. Those were the words of Mayor C. Ray Nagin and based upon a major breach of a levee system, water is flowing into...
