A Little Judicial Humor

One thing that makes me hopeful about John Roberts is that, unlike most of the black robes, he can write sentences that are both intelligent and elegant. He also appears to have a sense of humor. This from one of...
Darwinism and Design: A Brief Reply to Talmage

Talmage Ekander (South Dakota Lawyer) has written a couple of detailed and thoughtful comments on Darwinism in reply to my post below. They demonstrate that his blog is a valuable addition to the regional blogosphere. I don't have time to...

They Mostly Come Out At Night... Mostly

The LGF Kos Kountdown of Dooooooom. Technically, today we're 13 days away from the pending "radioactive" status of the Democratic Leadership Council, but I'm sure that the Kountdown will be making the rounds on many blogs today. After the disaster...
Preview: 2008

It hadn't quite dawned on me last night when I mentioned that Chuck Hagel would be on This Week that George Allen would also be on. Obviously, both men have their eyes on the Republican nomination in 2008, so it's...
Conservation, Conservatism, and Evolution

Our new neighbor in the regional blogosphere, Talmage Ekander (South Dakota Lawyer), has interesting piece on evolution and environmentalism. I concur in part and dissent in part. Almost all orthodox environmentalist share a common confusion. They priviledge (ok, its not...
Hiatus in the SD Dems

Quentin noted earlier the South Dakota Democrat's new Communication's Director (hired with money from Howard Dean), Elesha Carr, a self-proclaimed vegetarian and animal activist (which is about as aberrant as transplanting African animals here). Now, I have no qualms against...

West Bank test looms after Gaza evictions

Israeli security forcesEinsatzkommando teams moved into four settlements in Gaza yesterday as the evacuation of Jewish settlers from the areaenforcement of the judenfrei zone neared completion. They were met with burning barricades but no real opposition.

Yep, Hamas will now be able to complete it's new Gaza fire-base without any pesky jews around to see.

There will be a bigger test this week when they move to clear out two settlements in the West Bank manned by 2,000 hard-line opponents of the pullout. Some are armed and there are fears that what has been a virtually bloodless operation could turn very violent.

Will history repeat itself again: the Warsaw ghetto revolt, take 2?

The Chief thinks that Israeli PM Sharon has been royally suckered on this one - and that there will be no lasting positive result from the Palestinians. Get ready for the return of Netanyahu.
