Globalism At Work

The global economy is amazing. A couple months ago I saw an amazing live performance DVD of Pete Townshend of The Who performing music from the legendary Lifehouse project (if you've heard Who's Next, you've heard about half of Lifehouse)....

The Chief wishes a hearty "Welcome Aboard" to another worthy participant in the South Dakota blogosphere: South Dakota Lawyer.

He has an interesting post relating to the ongoing discussion of intelligent design vs. Darwinian evolution. As a religious believer with a biology background, this is a rather interesting topic. I plan on digesting his remarks a bit more, and probaly will comment further in the near future.

Anyway, again, welcome aboard!

Peace group hopes to educate parents, students about recruiters

SD moonbats are alive and well in the so-called South Dakota Peace and Justice Center. At issue is the provision for schools to pass contact information to military recruiters.

The No Child Left Behind Act specifies that military recruiters must have the same access to contact information about students at the secondary-education level as those students' other prospective employers have.

They are pushing an effort to isnsure that parents/students have the option to opt out on this contact information. WAIT! HOLD THE PRESS! If one reads to the end of Kranz's screed the information is provided that:

In the Sioux Falls School District, parents are made aware at the beginning of the year that they may keep their child's name out of a school directory, Superintendent Pam Homan says. "Parents annually grant permission to allow a student's independent use of the Internet, participate in school trips, to be photographed or filmed and be included in the school directory. It is a long-standing policy," she said. If a child's name is not included, then no one, including recruiters, can gain access to the student's name or information, she said.

In other words, what the SDPJC is arguing for, and that Dave Kranz is giving coverage on, is a problem that was solved before it started - the "opt-out" has already been in place. Phew! The world is still safe for democracy.

The LGF Kos Kountdown of Dooooooom. Technically, today we're 13 days away from the pending "radioactive" status of the Democratic Leadership Council, but I'm sure that the Kountdown will be making the rounds on many blogs today. After the disaster...
Did SD Democratic Party Hire a VEGETARIAN as Communications Director?

Dog Day Afternoons At the Local Cinema

A lot's been made over the dwindling box office receipts this summer, and now I see (via Instapundit) that movie studios are going to drastically cut the number of ads they run in newspapers. This always brings about the "Why...
