It hadn't quite dawned on me last night when I mentioned that Chuck Hagel would be on This Week that George Allen would also be on. Obviously, both men have their eyes on the Republican nomination in 2008, so it's...
9/11 Commissioner?s conflict of interest?

From WorldNetDaily:Online commentators are taking aim at the 9/11 commission for its failure to include in its report that intelligence officials reportedly ID'd hijack ringleader Mohamed Atta as part of an al-Qaida cell in the U.S. over a year before...
A Conservative Argument for Hate Crime Laws

Whatever else you may say about him, Richard Cohen is an independent minded liberal. In his latest WaPo essay he makes, well, George W. Bush's argument against hate crimes legislation. He focuses on the case of one Nicholas Morse. He...

West Bank test looms after Gaza evictions

Israeli security forcesEinsatzkommando teams moved into four settlements in Gaza yesterday as the evacuation of Jewish settlers from the areaenforcement of the judenfrei zone neared completion. They were met with burning barricades but no real opposition.

Yep, Hamas will now be able to complete it's new Gaza fire-base without any pesky jews around to see.

There will be a bigger test this week when they move to clear out two settlements in the West Bank manned by 2,000 hard-line opponents of the pullout. Some are armed and there are fears that what has been a virtually bloodless operation could turn very violent.

Will history repeat itself again: the Warsaw ghetto revolt, take 2?

The Chief thinks that Israeli PM Sharon has been royally suckered on this one - and that there will be no lasting positive result from the Palestinians. Get ready for the return of Netanyahu.

Politicizing the Past

San Francisco has delivered a slap in the face to our nation's past and has refused to commemorate the USS Iowa. The reason is the usual asinine, lefty response: . . . [C]ity supervisors voted 8-3 last month to oppose...

Peace group hopes to educate parents, students about recruiters

SD moonbats are alive and well in the so-called South Dakota Peace and Justice Center. At issue is the provision for schools to pass contact information to military recruiters.

The No Child Left Behind Act specifies that military recruiters must have the same access to contact information about students at the secondary-education level as those students' other prospective employers have.

They are pushing an effort to isnsure that parents/students have the option to opt out on this contact information. WAIT! HOLD THE PRESS! If one reads to the end of Kranz's screed the information is provided that:

In the Sioux Falls School District, parents are made aware at the beginning of the year that they may keep their child's name out of a school directory, Superintendent Pam Homan says. "Parents annually grant permission to allow a student's independent use of the Internet, participate in school trips, to be photographed or filmed and be included in the school directory. It is a long-standing policy," she said. If a child's name is not included, then no one, including recruiters, can gain access to the student's name or information, she said.

In other words, what the SDPJC is arguing for, and that Dave Kranz is giving coverage on, is a problem that was solved before it started - the "opt-out" has already been in place. Phew! The world is still safe for democracy.
