Russian "National Bolsheviks"?

Kremlin Not Amused By Life of This Party

The Russian National Bolshevik Party seems to be rocking the boat over there a bit.

National Bolsheviks? National Socialists? How much difference in meaning is there in those names? Not helping matters, the NB's have adopted the style of the old 3rd Reich flag - with a hammer and sickle in place of the swastika. Now THAT's a way to catch attention in Russia - which still has some collective nightmares of WW2.

This one may bear some watching, since they seem to be galvanizing some support fairly quickly.

WaPo Unlimbers Artillery at Roberts

Roberts Resisted Women's Rights

Beneath the headline, the WaPo posts a whole list of horribly conservative issues that Judge Roberts supported in the 1980's, when working for "Ronaldus Magnus" Reagan. What a dastardly PLOT of President Bush to actually have the unmitigated gall to nominate someone with conservative views! It's more than a MSM newspaper can stand!

The Chief thinks that this article constitutes the official OpOrder (Operations Order) to the liberal establishment to use for their upcoming effort to "Bork" Roberts. It's all here - the marching orders are out stand by for the snipers to start the action.

Some of the noted conservative offenses that Judge Roberts was apparently guilty of include:

In internal memos, Roberts urged President Reagan to refrain from embracing any form of the proposed Equal Rights Amendment pending in Congress; he concluded that some state initiatives to curb workplace discrimination against women relied on legal tools that were "highly objectionable"; and he said that a controversial legal theory then in vogue -- of directing employers to pay women equally to men for jobs of "comparable worth" -- was "staggeringly pernicious" and "anti-capitalist."

Check-off one to fire up the feminazis.

Roberts endorsed a speech attacking "four decades of misguided" Supreme Court decisions on the role of religion in public life.

Ooops. He called a spade a spade here. Unforgivable! Call out the ACLU!

...urged the president to hold off saying AIDS could not be transmitted through casual contact until more research was done,...

Not an unreasonable statement, based on the state of knowledge at that time.

argued that promotions and firings in the workplace should be based entirely on merit, not affirmative action programs.

SHOCKING! Employment decisions based on qualifications and merit? How dastardly a concept to the WaPo!

In October 1983, Roberts said that he favored creation of a national identity card to prove American citizenship, even though the White House counsel's office was officially opposed to the idea. He wrote that such measures were needed in response to the "real threat to our social fabric posed by uncontrolled immigration."

AH-HA! He's anti-immigrant, and no doubt a closet bigot against hispanics.

He also, the documents illustrate, played a bit role in the Reagan administration's efforts in Nicaragua to funnel assistance to CIA-supported "contras" who were trying overthrow the Marxist Sandinista government.

Supporting the contras? What's next...

In one instance, Roberts had a direct disagreement with the senator who now wields great influence over his confirmation prospects, Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Arlen Specter (R-Pa.). In a 1983 memo, Roberts was dismissive of a "white paper" on violent crime that had been drafted by one of Specter's aides. Noting that the paper proposed new expenditures of $8 billion to $10 billion a year, Roberts wrote: "The proposals are the epitome of the 'throw the money at the problem' approach repeatedly rejected by Administration spokesmen."

Here he is opposing RINO Sen. Spector caught in the act of pumping up spending without demonstrable effect on the problem.

The article goes on with some more issues that provide more grist for the mill of the LibDonks & RINOs as they try to fire up their attack machine for the upcoming hearings.

A New "Modest Proposal": Feed the Animals with US Farmers?

Lions on the plains would alter order of the food chain

First came the Princeton University spawned idea to return the Great Plains to what was called a "buffalo commons". (No farmers/ranchers need apply.) Now comes this idiocy of converting areas of the US plains into a new edition of the Serengeti, complete with AFRICAN type lions, etc.

Lions in your back yard?...Well, maybe, if a group of prominent ecologists gets to establish a "Pleistocene Park" on the Great Plains. Authors of the plan -- which appears in today's issue of the journal Nature -- say their idea to transplant African wildlife to North America could save many of the animals from extinction.

Oooooh Kaaaaaay. First these moonbats need to relocate their apartments to the middle of the Serengeti - without fences or doors. After a couple of years of this field testing THEN let's hear their ideas. No, let's not - throw them to the lions, and give them their great opportunity to contribute THEMSELVES to the food-chain.

Why is it that these eastern moonbat academics have all these great ideas on what to do with the rest of us out here on the plains. They must truly think that THEY are the only one's who have the intellectual understanding to decide the best way to manage the planet and all of it's occupants - including their fellow citizens.

"Obviously, gaining public acceptance is going to be a huge issue, especially when you talk about reintroducing predators. There are going to have to be some major attitude shifts.

Attitude shift? To becoming an item of catfood? Not in THIS life!

That includes realizing predation is a natural role, and that people are going to have to take precautions."

Right, dude. It's MY natural role to kill animals that try to eat me. I'll take precautions, alright. How's about a semi-auto 30-06 with a 20 round clip?

Nevertheless, the scientists say the relocated animals could restore biodiversity on this continent to a condition closer to what nature was like before humans overran the landscape.

This statement is just plain illogical. Bringing AFRICAN wildlife into North America is RESTORING biodiversity to the continent? It seems to the Chief (who has a biology degree) that this is REPLACING the continent's biodiversity. (At least the buffalo commons idea used North American animals.) I'm not alone in reaching this conclusion:

Some scientists and conservationists, however, hoot. "It is not restoration to introduce animals that were never here," says University of Washington anthropologist Donald K. Grayson. "Why introduce Old World camels and lions when there are North American species that could benefit from the same kind of effort?"

Phew! At least SOME reason isn't gone from academia!

There WAS a time in the history of western civilization when this sort of plan was followed to some extent:
