Russian "National Bolsheviks"?

Kremlin Not Amused By Life of This Party

The Russian National Bolshevik Party seems to be rocking the boat over there a bit.

National Bolsheviks? National Socialists? How much difference in meaning is there in those names? Not helping matters, the NB's have adopted the style of the old 3rd Reich flag - with a hammer and sickle in place of the swastika. Now THAT's a way to catch attention in Russia - which still has some collective nightmares of WW2.

This one may bear some watching, since they seem to be galvanizing some support fairly quickly.

More On Cindy Sheehan

Minnesota Matt has some interesting details on Cindy Sheehan, a mother who lost her son in the Iraq war and is currently camped out at the entrance to Bush's ranch in Crawford, Texas. Here's the short version: a year ago,...

Tim Kaine and NARAL

I am still getting e-mails reminding me that the Raising Kaine! website is an independent website, and not the official website of the Kaine campaign. This has given me a proprietary interest in the Virginia Governor's race that I otherwise...
NARAL Backs Down

The NARAL ad slandering John Roberts was taken off their website sometime yesterday, and NARAL has announced that it is withdrawing the ad altogether as soon as the substitute ad is produced and made available. The reason is that the...
NARAL Communications Chief Resigns

From NewsMax: Just 24 hours after last Thursday night's announcement that an anti-John G. Roberts ad was being pulled from the airwaves, David E. Seldin, NARAL's communications director, sent an e-mail to friends saying that he was leaving his job,...
A Conservative Argument for Hate Crime Laws

Whatever else you may say about him, Richard Cohen is an independent minded liberal. In his latest WaPo essay he makes, well, George W. Bush's argument against hate crimes legislation. He focuses on the case of one Nicholas Morse. He...
Border Issue Heating Up

Bush under pressure on influx from Mexico

This issue is hot and getting hotter. The Chief has posted several times in the past that the GOP was in a position of being at least partially outflanked to the right on the border security issue. With the exception of a few outspoken people like Tom Tancredo (R-CO )the general level of squishiness on this from the President on down, leaves Donks a hole big enough to drive a busload of illegals through.

The emergency declarations of the Donk governors of Arizona and New Mexico, along with the concerned noises from Hilary herself show that some of them at least are getting the message from the voters at last. The real question, especially in Hilary's case is whether or not this is an actual substantive policy, or is just a ploy to hoodwink some red-state voters to shift in '08.

Based on the record, the Chief is inclined NOT to give much credibility to Sen. Hil's new-found moderation.
