More On Cindy Sheehan

Minnesota Matt has some interesting details on Cindy Sheehan, a mother who lost her son in the Iraq war and is currently camped out at the entrance to Bush's ranch in Crawford, Texas. Here's the short version: a year ago,...
That About Says It

I think Jonah Goldberg gets it about right on this Cindy Sheehan stuff:Without getting into all the sub-arguments about Cindy Sheehan, I think she's a great example of the opportunism of partisanship. There's simply no way that establishment liberals would...
Sun Dance

I was scanning through my stack of articles on my desk and stumbled upon this one that I forgot to post about before I left for Iowa (so please excuse it for being a week old). From the Aberdeen American...
"Fly Me to the Moon..."

Private Company Plans Tour Around the Moon

Space Adventures, a company based in Arlington, Va., has already sent two tourists into orbit. Today, it is to unveil an agreement with Russian space officials to send two passengers on a voyage lasting 10 to 21 days, depending partly on its itinerary and whether it includes the International Space Station. A roundtrip ticket will cost $100 million. The space-faring tourists will travel with a Russian pilot. They will steer clear of the greater technical challenge of landing on the Moon, instead circling it and returning to Earth.

The Chief has to like this one, big time. Anything that extends our presence in space is a positive - and this will reinforce the moves for NASA to re-extend itself in the direction of lunar basing.

Granted there's not any new technology in this, but what of it? Columbus, and those who came after him didn't use "new technology" either to explore and settle a "new world".

NEA Versus Wal-Mart

The National Education Association, which claims to care about education, is asking parents to boycott Wal-Mart during this back to school purchasing season. I never cease to be amazed at the left's concerted effort to demonize a company that employees...
Iraq Constitutional Snag?

A couple of items on this one in the WaPo:

Iraqis Fail To Meet Constitution Deadline

Despite Setback, Bush Optimistic on Iraqi Charter

The moonbat left is declaring defeat, and saying that the experiment of democracy in Iraq is failing. The Chief thinks not. To recall some historical perspective it took the USA years to come up with a Consititution after the end of the Revolutionary War.

Neither Rome nor Washington were built in a day - so why should anyone expect a new Baghdad to happen instantly, and without some jostling? Like Bismarck once observed: "People who like sausages and laws shouldn't watch either one being made." Not a bad observation to keep in mind - it might even still apply to us! (Shocking idea, that!)

Like Sand Through the Hourglass...

"Erin," writing in the comments to my post yesterday: Character Assasination 101 is under way right now and it should be noted that even though I have only talked about the "players" that I have had direct contact with, there...
