Durbin offered proof of column

Senator Dick "Turban" Durbin (Donk - IL) got himself stuck in the waffle iron, while trying to backpedal after applying a de-facto religious test to the nomination of Judge Roberts to the SCOTUS.

A law professor who used Senate Minority Whip Richard J. Durbin as a source for a column last month about federal Judge John G. Roberts Jr. -- a column that Mr. Durbin later disputed -- has a taped phone message that he says proves the accuracy of his reporting.

Damn! Pesky factual evidence of weasels at work! How's a Donk politicial supposed to do his thing when someone holds him (or her) to the facts!

In an Aug. 4 letter to Mr. Durbin, Mr. Turley laid out his detailed recollection of the situation and quoted extensively from a taped telephone message from Mr. Shoemaker. "While speculation continues as to what was said in your meeting, I wanted to establish that everything said in my article was taken directly from my notes, confirmed by your staff, and never questioned on any point on accuracy," Mr. Turley wrote. "I stayed out of this controversy for over two weeks as your staff has insisted that the account was inaccurate. However, it is grossly unfair to present this matter as an error on our part when we specifically confirmed the account with your staff and never heard a single objection on accuracy until the story ran."

This guy shows apparent evidence that he lives on some other planet since he's describing something that has no resemblance to any reality on Terra.

For example: One day, we awoke to the crime of 9/11, which hit the tallest buildings in New York, the Empire State Building [sic]. There is no doubt that not a single Arab or Muslim had anything to do with these events. The incident was fabricated as a pretext to attack Islam and Muslims. The plan was to take over the world's energy sources, and to achieve this control by force and not by agreement or negotiations, by interests, free trade, or anything like that. This is what they wanted. "So this incident was fabricated - and Allah knows that the Arabs and Muslims are innocent of it - in order to serve as a pretext to attack Islam and the Muslims.

Seriously though folks, the Chief doesn't know whish is worse: that he believes this is true, or that he knows it isn't. If he believes it is true, then the man, apparently a person of some stature in the mid-east, is a total psychopath with a view of reality that has no resemblance to anything true. If he doesn't actually believe what he's saying, it's even worse, for then he must have grounds for thinking that there is a significant audience out there that DOES think this alternative version of reality is true.

In either event, there's no rationality, and certainly no basis for any sort of meaningful compromises.
