9/11 Commissioner?s conflict of interest?

Let the RINO Hunt Begin!

Mainstreamers have lost their way

A couple of opEds from the RC Journal here and here express some thoughts similar to a comment the Chief posted a while back on the same topic. Akers' double-barrel blast was especially on target in a number of respects.

Moderates accommodate evil (the mainstream coalition advocates "tolerance and compassion for all"). They avoid decisions. Whenever you hear a politician say we have to let the courts decide issues like abortion and gay marriage, you're listening to a moderate. Prior to the Iraq war and World War II, moderates sought to avoid decisions by giving sanctions or diplomacy more time to work.
The Mainstream Coalition was about as bold as you'd expect a bunch of moderates to be in crafting their list their principles. They're for human rights, religious freedom and quality education, against saying mean things about homosexuals and racial minorities, against candidates who lie about their beliefs, and against requiring office-holders to belong to a particular religion. This would only matter if anyone with power or influence were taking the opposite position on these things, and none are.
The Mainstreamers should add a little to their statement that a quality education is the cornerstone of freedom and democracy. Along with quality education, you need guns, a constitution, ammunition, private property, citizens who know how to use guns, judges who follow the constitution, gun factories and a separation of powers. And maybe a few more guns. You need one more thing. A moral population. A religious citizenry.

On target!

As far as the virtues of "moderation" go, two thoughts:
(1) Moderation in defense of freedom is no virtue, extremism in defense of liberty is no vice. (Goldwater)
(2) ref: Revelation 3:16.

Anti-war mom Sheehan's husband files for divorce

What can one say about this? Probably quite a bit, but the Chief will let the situation speak for itself in this case.

The husband of Cindy Sheehan has filed for divorce, citing "irreconcilable differences" with his anti-war wife.

This article does answer one question about the case of the moonbat protest camper & her family:

Members of her husband's family have criticized her. Last week, Casey's aunt and godmother, Cherie Quararolo of Kelseyville, Calif., and others in the family sent e-mail to a California radio station that challenged Mrs. Sheehan's motives. "We do not agree with the political motivations and publicity tactics of Cindy Sheehan. She appears to be promoting her own personal agenda at the expense of her son's good name and reputation," the family members said. "The rest of the Sheehan Family supports the troops, our country, and our president, silently with prayer and respect."

"Fly Me to the Moon..."

Private Company Plans Tour Around the Moon

Space Adventures, a company based in Arlington, Va., has already sent two tourists into orbit. Today, it is to unveil an agreement with Russian space officials to send two passengers on a voyage lasting 10 to 21 days, depending partly on its itinerary and whether it includes the International Space Station. A roundtrip ticket will cost $100 million. The space-faring tourists will travel with a Russian pilot. They will steer clear of the greater technical challenge of landing on the Moon, instead circling it and returning to Earth.

The Chief has to like this one, big time. Anything that extends our presence in space is a positive - and this will reinforce the moves for NASA to re-extend itself in the direction of lunar basing.

Granted there's not any new technology in this, but what of it? Columbus, and those who came after him didn't use "new technology" either to explore and settle a "new world".

Let a Thousand Icons Bloom

Chad at CCK makes a very good argument against public religious displays. A religious group hitherto unknown to me (and perhaps existing only for political purposes) insists that it be allowed to erect a monument enumerating the Seven Aphorisms, principles...
