Nev. Senator Butts Up Against New Opposition

Reid to lockhorns with ram

Sen. Harry Reid (Donk-NV) has found his level of opposition as a problem with a pet project is in potential conflict with a pet critter. This pits good ole senatorial pork against the envirowacko regs governing an "endangered species". (Whether or not this is a real species is another question all together.)

Both were born in the same state. Both have loyal constituencies and perks that come with their leadership positions. But politics and economics have conspired to put Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid of Nevada and his neighbor, a desert bighorn sheep nicknamed Horndog, on a collision course.

This is really interesting - who has the more dense skull? Horndog, or Sen. Dusty Harry?

What's The Deal With Dobson?

David Gelernter both attacks and defends James Dobson on stem-cells. So Chad can feel both vindicated and accused, although it is true that Gelernter is more on Chad's side than on Prof. Blanchard's and my side in giving a qualified...
Good News for Russian Sub Sailors

Submariners in peril are saved by the 'brotherhood of the sea'

The Chief extends a "bravo zulu" (well done) to the Russian submariners who maintianed their professional composure under extremely tough conditions, and to the UK Royal Navy team that enabled the positive outcome to this potential tragedy.

Maritime disasters or potential disasters always jab the Chief's attention. Based on his own modest sea-going experience on a DDG for a couple years, it's never hard to identify with those situations - at sea anything can happen, and generally does, somewhere, sometime.

Fortunately for the Russians, this time they dodged the bullet, or should it be that they dodged the depth charge!

Envirowackos' Proclaimed Disaster Found to be Bogus

'Worst GM pollution incident' vanishes

What was billed by the media as the world's worst incident of pollution by genetically-engineered crops, one that provoked a row among scientists, has vanished, says a study published today.

Another case of chicken-little-ism, or, much ado about nothing.

Possible Senate Cat Fight

Pirro to Challenge Clinton for Senate Seat

Jeanine Pirro, a high-profile prosecutor in the New York City suburbs, said Monday she will seek the Republican nomination to challenge Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton next year.

PIRRO.jpg

The Chief has been impressed with what he's seen of Jeanine Pirro on the tube. It's probably a long shot to beat Hil, but it may be possible if the right campaign is run against her. Whatever, Ms. Pirro already has her beat hands down for foxiness.

Poll: Canadian Successionist Sentiments Strong

Westerners considering separation

More than one-third of western Canadians surveyed this summer thought it was time to consider separation from Canada, a poll suggests. In the survey, 35.6 per cent of respondents from Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta and British Columbia agreed with the statement: Western Canadians should begin to explore the idea of forming their own country.

Interesting. According to historians, about 1/3 of the colonists in what became the United States were in favor of that independence movement, so maybe there's enough sentiment up there for something to happen, eh?
