"Erin" v. "The Hildebrand Boys"

This Todd Epp post has sixty-some comments from "Erin" and the former/current Daschle staffer bloggers in which they go back and forth over how she was treated by them. It's getting rather heated and she asks to know who is...
Dedication to Preaching Jihad Only Goes So Far

Preacher of hate flees Britain

Omar Bakri Mohammed, one of several British-based Islamist clerics facing possible terrorist incitement charges, has fled to Lebanon, it was reported last night.

Good riddance to bad rubbish!

Anjem Choudary, a spokesman for the dissolved al-Muhajiroun ("The Emigrants") group, said he left on Saturday, adding: "It doesn't look like he is coming back."

Looks like he doesn't want to sample the hospitality of Her Majesty's prison system. Amazing what can be done absent the ACLU!

Volokh: Right Again

I agree with Eugene Volokh once again, this time as he goes after a particular group of (apparently) conservative Christians: Distinguishing fair criticisms of one's adversaries from unfair criticisms is not a technicality. I've seen lots of people, left, right,...

Nathan Peterson, one of the Hildebrand Boys, answered my questions:Q: Are you still a member of the National Guard? A: Yes Q: If so, is your compensation from the National Guard funded by taxpayers? A: Unless someone started privately funding...
Now This Is A Basketball Mismatch

While searching through Yahoo! News for some sports photos totally unrelated to women's basketball, I came across the following picture of Rapid City, SD's own Becky Hammon. This has to be seen to be believed. The New York Liberty's Becky...

Private Company Plans Tour Around the Moon

Space Adventures, a company based in Arlington, Va., has already sent two tourists into orbit. Today, it is to unveil an agreement with Russian space officials to send two passengers on a voyage lasting 10 to 21 days, depending partly on its itinerary and whether it includes the International Space Station. A roundtrip ticket will cost $100 million. The space-faring tourists will travel with a Russian pilot. They will steer clear of the greater technical challenge of landing on the Moon, instead circling it and returning to Earth.

The Chief has to like this one, big time. Anything that extends our presence in space is a positive - and this will reinforce the moves for NASA to re-extend itself in the direction of lunar basing.

Granted there's not any new technology in this, but what of it? Columbus, and those who came after him didn't use "new technology" either to explore and settle a "new world".

Stem Cell Debate

I respect Chad Schuldt's passion in advocating federal funding for embryonic stem cell research, but I am afraid he slips slightly into the error I discussed below. According to Chad, anyone who objects to this scientific research that potentially benefits...
Schmidt the Victor

Looks like Jean Schmidt won Ohio's 2nd District special election. The election was close -- surprisingly so, in fact -- so we ought to be on the lookout for some wingnuts in full bloom in the coming days....
