Good News for Russian Sub Sailors

Submariners in peril are saved by the 'brotherhood of the sea'

The Chief extends a "bravo zulu" (well done) to the Russian submariners who maintianed their professional composure under extremely tough conditions, and to the UK Royal Navy team that enabled the positive outcome to this potential tragedy.

Maritime disasters or potential disasters always jab the Chief's attention. Based on his own modest sea-going experience on a DDG for a couple years, it's never hard to identify with those situations - at sea anything can happen, and generally does, somewhere, sometime.

Fortunately for the Russians, this time they dodged the bullet, or should it be that they dodged the depth charge!

Hildebrand boy makes Argus Leader

SDP points out that anti-Thune blogger Nathan Peterson, one of the Hildebrand Boys, has a letter to the editor in today?s Argus Leader. SDP also makes this revelation:What's interesting about this is that Nathan Peterson (anti-Thune blogger) has received money...
Rafael Palmeiro Is Hot Right Now (And I Don't Mean His Bat)

Rafael Palmeiro is taking a 10-day vacation. Rafael Palmeiro was suspended 10 days for violating Major League Baseball's steroids policy Monday, nearly five months after the Baltimore Orioles first baseman told Congress that "I have never used steroids. Period." In...
Permanent Campaign

I was just interviewed by South Dakota Public Radio on the permanent campaign. I don't know when the story will air, but keep your ear glued to the radio for pure brilliance. And I might be on there too. Oh,...
Part of a Pattern?

Fire rages at a chemical plant in suburban Detroit

There have been several of these sorts of fires in the last couple months or so. If the Chief were paranoid, he MIGHT think that someone or some group might be trying to knock back our petrochemical infrastructure to negatively impact the economy, especially with the well documented tight situation with refining capacity.

Naaah. Surely Homeland Security or someone would tell us if something like that were happening. Wouldn't they?

Then again...just because I'm paranoid, doessn't mean somebody isn't REALLY after me!

Exploding Head Syndrome

I have a confession to make. I suffer from what is called "exploding head syndrome." That is to say that I hear things when I fall asleep. Well, not just "things," but you'll see what I mean. Let me give...
